Vegan-Friendly Food Outlets in Ōtepoti/Dunedin Happy Cow: Dunedin has it's very own page on this famous, world-wide online guide to vegan-friendly cafes, restaurants, and takeaways. This is the best list we know of, for where to get vegan food in our city. There is even a Happy Cow app!
Let The Eat Vegan and Burger Plant are the only two food outlets in Dunedin which are fully vegan. There are many other cafes, restaurants and eateries in Dunedin which offer either a separate vegan menu, or vegan options. Some of our favourites are Taste Nature, Harbourside Grill, Carey's Bay Hotel, The Jitsu and Maggie's.
Dunedin Vegans & Vegetarians Facebook Group With approximately 3,500 members, this Facebook group is best place for information and discussions about all things vegan and vegetarian in our city. It brings together Dunedin vegans, vegetarians, (and those who are considering those lifestyles, or transitioning), providing support, discussion, ideas, information, and networking opportunities of all kinds. Vegan Parents Group: Ōtepoti/Dunedin A Facebook-based discussion and support group for vegan parents (or parents interested in veganism) based in or near Ōtepoti/Dunedin, New Zealand. Mouthful Mouthful (formerly known as Plant Based Living Initiative) is a non-profit organisation run by Jono Drew and Anna DeMello, who are based in Dunedin. They are a non-profit website offering an online platform that focuses on food system sustainability. Other Animal Advocacy and Rescue Groups in Ōtepoti/Dunedin
The animals need all the helpers they can get. All of these groups are usually very glad to welcome new volunteers and supporters. Most of them are very grateful for financial donations too.
Cat Rescue Dunedin Cat Rescue Dunedin, (formerly known as Animal Rescue Network New Zealand), are committed to reducing the wild-born and stray cat population in our city through a combination of Trap Neuter Release, and adoption. On Facebook.
Dog Rescue Dunedin Dog Rescue Dunedin Charitable Trust rescues dogs from the DCC Animal Control service, provides veterinary care (including desexing), food and home-based foster care and advertises them until they find their 'forever homes'. On Facebook.
The Wildlife Hospital The Wildlife Hospital, Dunedin, is based at Otago Polytechnic. It’s the only facility of its kind, in the South Island of New Zealand, home to some of the world’s most unique and most threatened species.
