DŌVeS is here to provide support and fellowship to new and transitioning vegans, as well as those who have been vegan for a while, in Ōtepoti/Dunedin and the surrounding area. We also work to promote veganism to the wider community, and we collaborate with, support, and assist others with similar aims, in our city, our region, and the rest of the country.
Respect for the lives of animals has never been higher. At the same time, public awareness of their suffering continues to grow as new evidence emerges about the horrific realities of the lives of animals exploited for food, clothing, entertainment, research, and other purposes.
Awareness is also rapidly increasing about the catastrophic impact of animal agriculture and the commercial fishing industry on the environment. Add to that the huge body of scientific evidence that consuming animal products is detrimental to our health, and that eating a whole food plant based diet is one of the most powerful things we can do for our health and wellbeing.
With knowledge of all these facts increasing and spreading all the time, since 2016 veganism has been practically exploding in popularity. Veganism has been called the fastest growing social justice movement of our era.
Vegans are rewarded with the empowering knowledge that by making some very simple personal choices, they are playing an important part in helping to solve some of the most immense, serious, and urgent crises the world is currently facing.
As well as helping to change the world, vegans also discover and enjoy the personal benefits of this abundant, joyful, and healthy way of eating and living. One thing we hear from vegans all the time... The only regret they have, is that they didn't commit to being vegan sooner!

We are always keen to add new members to our Organising Team, and/or our Helpers & Supporters team. If you are interested in increasing your commitment to helping animals, people, and the environment, and you'd like to know more, then feel free to get in touch, and we can discuss how you might be able to contribute to the important work we do.
