JOIN US FOR THIS YEAR'S WORLD VEGAN DAY CELEBRATIONS!
Being vegan is awesome. It’s a powerful but easy way of living that is good for animals, good for the planet, and even good for our health. We love being vegan, and we think it’s something worth celebrating.
This year we are holding not one, but TWO exciting World Vegan Day events. 1: A vegan buffet dinner at Watson's Eatery on Saturday the 31st of October. 2: A vegan potluck feast at 'The Apartment' on Sunday the 1st of November.
Vegan Buffet Dinner at Watson's
Our first event is a special vegan buffet dinner at Watson's Eatery on Saturday the 31st of October, from 6-8pm.
We made sure we offered tickets to certain VIP people first, since the aim was to recognise and honour everyone that we know of in our city and the surrounding region who has been doing excellent work of all sorts advocating for, protecting, or rescuing animals; along with those who are helping animals, people, and the planet by promoting plant based eating.
We have opened the event up to everyone else in the vegan community now, along with those who are transitioning or interested, because ultimately we all deserve to celebrate our contribution to making the world a better place, by embracing or exploring the vegan way of life.
The wonderful team at Watson's will be offering us a range of their delicious treats in the form of a vegan/plant-based buffet. Tickets are only $35 per person, but they are strictly limited so be in quick and don't miss out!
We will also be selling tickets for our DŌVeS World Vegan Month fundraising raffle. There are 61 prizes to be won, worth a total of $2,829! Tickets are only $4 or 3 for $10.
Vegan Potluck Feast at 'The Apartment'
Our second event is a vegan potluck feast at 'The Apartment' (*) on Sunday the 1st of November, from 12-3pm.
(* See bottom of page for info about The Apartment.)
We're having a Vegan Potluck Feast!
DŌVeS is combining forces with some of our favourite vegan shops in town, to provide some exciting, delicious FREE vegan treats. But the event is also a big potluck meal, so please bring along some vegan food to share.
Admission is free. It is a family friendly event and everyone is welcome, so bring along your friends and whanau. We'll have some live music, stalls, giveaways, fun activities, and more.
(UPDATE 31/10/2020: Even magical rainbow fairies get ill sometimes. Our children's entertainer Rainbow Rosalind is not well, so unfortunately she can't make it to our World Vegan Day potluck feast now. We are very sad that she won't be there, but of course we all want her to take good care of herself, and we wish her a very speedy recovery. Take care Rosalind. Get well soon! ❤ )
We will also be selling tickets for our DŌVeS World Vegan Month fundraising raffle. There are 61 prizes to be won, worth a total of $2,829! Tickets are only $4 or 3 for $10.
Bring:
- Yourself, your friends, and your family. All welcome. Vegan and non-vegan alike.
- Some money for the raffle and the stalls.
- Your own drink/s of choice if you wish. (But no alcohol please).
- Vegan Food! Please bring a vegan dish to share.
Important! To find out about veganism and what foods are and aren't vegan, check out the About Veganism page on our website.
If you’re unsure what to bring, our DŌVeS potluck page a has a great list of websites full of easy, affordable vegan recipes. But vegan food doesn't have to be fancy. It can be as simple as tossing together a fresh fruit salad or a green salad, or bringing a bowl of hummus with chips or a platter of crunchy vegetables for dipping.
The shared food is what makes these events great, so we really encourage everyone to bring along some vegan food to share. But if you're genuinely unable to, then please come along anyway. It's your company that’s important.
There are limited cooking facilities at the venue, but they will probably be in hot demand. (No pun intended). If you can bring your food already heated, or something that can be served cold, that will be helpful.
If you have any special dietary requirements, (apart from being vegan of course!), you are welcome to bring your own food as well as, or instead of, food for sharing.
It's going to be a great day. All welcome. See you there!
(* Our venue, 'The Apartment', on 35 Dowling Street, can be slightly hard to find. See our DŌVeS potlucks page for a map and instructions. Note: Vehicles must not be parked inside the building or in the carpark outside the building. Parking is on the street only.)
