March 2017 DOVeS/VARS Vegan 101

The first ever DOVeS/VARS vegan 101 event, held on the 28th of March 2017 at OUSA Clubs & Socs, went really well. Thanks to all who attended. The room was packed, with standing room only at the back! The speakers, all current University of Otago students, were terrific in sharing their personal vegan journeys as well as presenting great information on animal rights/ethics, environmental issues, and healthy eating. We had plenty of great food to share, good questions were asked from the floor, and there was time for a mix and mingle at the end. Many people requested further information, and several signed up to get a vegan buddy/mentor. We’ll be allocating buddies within the next few weeks. VARS will also be running a Vegan Tour of Dunedin soon to show new vegans which shops, cafes, and other services in the city are vegan-friendly.
